D’Innocenzo Brothers’ Crime Series ‘Dostoevskij’ Drops Dark Teaser Before Berlin Launch

Sky Italia has dropped a first teaser for “Dostoevskij”, the TV series by twin directors Damiano and Fabio D’Innocenzo, which will launch from the upcoming Berlin Film Festival in the Berlinale Special section.

The eclectic, six-episode detective drama set in the stark Roman hinterland stars Filippo Timi as Enzo Vitello, a detective whose mind is warped by a troubled past. He winds up on the blood trail of a ruthless serial killer, nicknamed Dostoevskij because of the letters full of gruesome details that he leaves at crime scenes.

Haunted by the killer’s words, the policeman embarks on a dangerous solo investigation, getting closer and closer to a disturbing existential truth.

The Italian duo’s stylishly gritty dramas “Boy’s Cry” and “Bad Tales” both previously launched from the Berlinale, while their most recent film, “America Latina,” bowed at Venice in 2022. “Dostoevskij” is their debut in the TV series sphere.

The D’Innocenzo Brothers, who are also published poets, have described “Dostoevskij” as: “The story of a man, a police officer, a ghost, a winter, a daughter, a friend, the end of a friend, a river, an assassin, a glistening fish, a broken hand, an abandoned daughter, a colonoscopy, a battery charger, a more esteemed colleague, an orphan, an orphanage, a pregnancy, a lost daughter, a younger colleague, an eye washed in a sink, an illness ... the decisive battle among all of these elements in the world.”

After launching from Berlin, the series will release in Italian movie theaters in two separate parts via distributor Vision Distribution prior to playing on Sky.

The Sky Original series conceived, written and directed by the D’Innocenzo Brothers is produced by the Comcast-owned pay-TV player’s Sky Studios with Rome’s Paco Cinematografica.

“Dostoevskij” will air on Sky and stream on its NOW service in all Sky markets, including the U.K., Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

NBCUniversal Global Distribution will be handling international sales on behalf of Sky Studios.
